About the Event
This year's theme is “Inspired Leadership Through Lived Experience.” During this event, our leadership experts will cover topics such as:
- Understanding the impact of core needs on your leadership style
- Dynamic Leadership: How to inspire growth and lead through change
- Embracing diversity to foster team cohesion and harmony
- Authentically You: Leading through your core values
- Leveraging “Lived Experience” to strengthen alignment
A focus on leadership training and development is more important now than ever. The Department is replacing retirements rapidly. More than 26% of our current 5,301 employees have been with the Fire Department for less than 3 years. With the significant shift in personnel tenure, the scope of leader responsibilities continues to increase. At the same time, individuals are taking on first-time leadership roles and veteran leaders are providing additional mentorship. Together, we have done our best to grow as leaders with our current knowledge and tools.
This leadership summit is an opportunity to take what you know about leadership to the next level, to better understand your leadership strengths, style and assets and how you can deploy them in a way that inspires, empowers and reenergizes you. The program will enable you to lead confidently, with clarity of purpose, thought, and action. The leadership experts will guide you through practical exercises and provide tools you can implement immediately.
You will leave feeling encouraged and empowered to meet the challenges and needs of the Fire Department’s dynamic environment.
Releases for those who register by [date TBD] will be requested of your chain of command with notification of outcome provided within 5 days. Should your release be rejected - your registration will immediately be refunded. Overtime is not authorized. Business Casual dress attire is recommended, and current COVID-19 protocols apply.
Are you a member of any of the Foundation Auxiliary Support Group? Members of our Stentorian, Asian Pacific Islander Association, Women’s Fire League, Lifeguard Support Association, EMS Association, Association of Chiefs and others are eligible for scholarships.
